Tournament Overview: 
MSJE Chess Championship is a USCF-rated event for all members of MSJE Chess Team or MSJE Chess Club.

Sections:

• 3 sections: Open section, 300-599 section, U300 section
• Players are placed in sections and paired based on their current USCF rating.
• Players might "play up" to a stronger section on a case-by-case basis, subject to sole discretion of MSJE Chess Head Coach.

Time Control: G/25;d5

Rounds:

• 1st round starts approximately at 3pm Friday 05/02/2025, please arrive by 2:50pm, and 2nd round begins after 1st round finishes in each section.
• 3rd round starts approximately at 3pm Friday 05/16/2025, please arrive by 2:50pm, and 4th round begins after 3rd round finishes in each section.

Parental Guidelines:

• Parents are kindly asked to drop off and pick up their children. Only players and tournament staffs are allowed to remain inside MUR while games are in progress. Thank you for your understanding.

Tournament Rules:

• All US Chess tournament rules apply.
• The tournament director's decisions are final.
• Notation: Required for players in Open section and 300-599 section, per MSJE Chess Head Coach's policy. Strongly recommended for U300 section.

Entry Fee: none

Bye Request:

• maximum two half-point byes are available upon request.
• Please submit the request of half-point bye for 1st round or 2nd round by 11:59PM Wednesday 04/30/2025.
• Please submit the request of half-point bye for 3rd round or 4th round by 11:59PM Wednesday 05/14/2025.

Rating:

• USCF Dual-Rated.
• US Chess membership is required for all the players.

Equipment:

• Chess sets will be provided.
• Please bring own notation sheets and pencils.
• Please bring your own clock if you can.
