MSJE Chess Championship 2026

Our annual MSJE Chess Championship is a USCF-rated event for all members of MSJE Chess Program.

Tournament Format: Swiss System

Total Rounds: 4

Time Control: G/25;d5 (This means you get 25 minutes, your opponent gets 25 minutes, and with 5-second delay before clock starts counting down on each move)

Eligibility: Players must have current US Chess Federation membership. Expiration date of their US Chess membership must be later than the last day of the tournament.

Capacity: 80

Round Times:

• 1st round at 3pm on Friday 02/27/2026, and 2nd round begins after 1st round finishes.
• 3rd round at 3pm on Friday 03/06/2026, and 4th round begins after 3rd round finishes.

Sections: Open, U600, U300, Unrated

We may update event details, like sections and round times, as the tournament date approaches to ensure the best possible experience for all players.

Parental Guidelines:

Parents are kindly asked to drop off and pick up their children. Only players and tournament staff are allowed to remain inside MUR while games are in progress. Thank you for your understanding.

Tournament Rules:

• All US Chess tournament rules apply.
• The tournament director's decisions are final.
• Notation is required for players in Open section and U600 section, per MSJE Chess Head Coach's policy.

Bye Request:

• maximum two half-point byes are available upon request.
• Please request half-point byes for 1st round and 2nd round by 10PM Thursday 02/26/2026.
• Please request half-point byes for 3rd round and 4th round by 10PM Thursday 03/05/2026.

Entry Fee: none

Equipment:

• Chess sets will be provided.
• Please bring your own notation sheets and pencils.
• Please bring your own clock if you can.
