MSJE 2025 Hand and Brain Blitz

Date: Monday December 15th, 2025

Time: 6:15pm - 8pm

Rating: not rated. USCF membership is not required.

Eligibility: each team should be one scholastic player and one adult.

Chess Variant: Hand and Brain

a team of two players plays another team of two players. The player in the role of "Brain" will announce one of the six pieces (King, Queen, Rook, Knight, Bishop, and Pawn) and then player in the role of "Hand" move any one of the named pieces on the board that has a legal move.

Format: 4-round Swiss in one section. G/5; +3.

Rule violations incur a 1-min penalty (added to the opponent team’s clock). Third violation results in the offending team’s forfeit

Round Times: 1st round starts at 6:15pm, subsequent rounds on rolling schedule.

Equipment:

• Chess sets and clocks will be provided 
• Players do not need to bring notation sheets and pencils, as notation is not required in Blitz  
• Scholastic player, please bring a parent as your teammate to enjoy the fun together.
• Adults, please bring your humility and readiness to play and learn
