Calling all kids! Eager to hone in your skills and play your peers from across the Hoosier state? The monthly Hoosier Scholastic is the place to be!

 

  • When: THIRD Sunday of every month
  • Where: Monroe County Public Library, 303 E Kirkwood Ave, Bloomington, IN 47408 (Room 1C, 1B/1C, OR 2A—will notify in advance after registering)
  • Who: Any child in grades K-12 with an active United States Chess Federation (USCF) membership
  • Rounds: Four rounds, first one beginning at 1:30pm. Subsequent rounds will start as soon as possible. The event will end at 4:30pm. Arrive at the playing site no later than 1:15pm.
  • Time control: G25, +5 increment 
  • Sections: Elementary school, middle school, and high school. Middle and high school sections may be combined if necessary. Sixth graders are considered to be in elementary school in Bloomington, so they will play in the elementary school section.
  • Prizes: Trophies and medals to top five finishers in each section
  • Entry fee: $5 in advance, $10 if registering on-site, full scholarships for those on free or reduced lunch
