**Michigan vs. Ohio Rivalry Chess Tournament**
Welcome to the inaugural Michigan vs. Ohio Rivalry Chess Tournament, a thrilling competition inspired by the legendary college football rivalry. This unique event pits the top chess players from Michigan and Ohio against each other, with state pride and the prestigious Wes Ballard Cup on the line.
**Tournament Details:**
- **Date & Venue:** April 13th at St Martin Deporres Church 1119 Bancroft St Toledo,Ohio
- **Entry Fee:** $25 per player for Play for the cup sections; $20 for Scholastic players in the scholastic sections. **Titled players (WIM, WGM, CM, NM, IM, FM, GM) receive free entry**, with the entry fee being deducted from any winnings.
- **Eligibility:** Open exclusively to players from Michigan and Ohio
**Tournament Format:**
- The tournament will feature individual matches, but scores will be tallied by state to determine the overall winning state.
- To ensure a team spirit, no players from the same state will face each other.
- The tournament will consist of several sections, including Play For Cup, (U1600, U1200, for Class prizes) Unrated, and Scholastic (Open, U900, U600).

**Round Times:**
- 10:00 AM
- 11:15 AM
- 1:00 PM
- 2:15 PM
- 4:30 PM
**Prizes:**
- **Top State Award:** The state with the highest sum of scores from their top 5 players will be declared the winner. Each of the top 5 players from the winning state will receive $100. The winning state will also be awarded the Wes Ballard Cup, to be held until the next event.
- 1st Place: $100
- 2nd Place: $60
- 3rd Place: $40
- 4th Place: $30
- 5th Place: $20
- Plus 100$ extra if your state wins the cup
- **Class Prizes:** $75 each for the Best U1600 and U1200 players.
- **Unrated Section:** 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will receive 75% of the entry fees from the Unrated section, distributed among them.
- **Scholastic Section:** The top three kids in each Scholastic section (Open, U900, U600) will receive a trophy.
**Additional Information:**
- All prizes are based on a minimum of 60 entries across all sections.
- This is a team event emphasizing state vs. state competition. The spirit of camaraderie and rivalry is encouraged!
- The tournament will follow USCF rules and regulations. Current USCF membership is required for rated sections.
