• Tournament Format: Swiss System
• Total Rounds: 4
• Time control: G40 d5 
• Round Times: 9:30am  11:30am  (Lunch time)  13: 30pm  15:30pm
• Sections: Open,  U1600, U800
• Rating:  USCF Regular and Quick duo-rated
• US Chess current rating will be used for section determination and pairings. 
• Playup: playup fee 10$, within 200  points of the rating cutoff to play up in higher section
• Byes
  • Byes are available for players in any round if they can't participate that round but would like to stay in the tournament.
  • A maximum of two half-point byes can be requested in this tournament.
  • Rounds 1 through 3 byes must be requested 30 minutes before the official round times.
  • Round 4 (last round) bye must be requested before the start of Round 1, and it is irrevocable to prevent possible prize-fund manipulations.
  • Late registrations will receive a half-point bye for any missed round, up to two rounds.

Cash Prize

Prize fund is based on 60 paid entries; the actual prize amount is subject to change according to the final registrations

• Open: 1st: 200$, 2nd : 150$, 3rd: 100$;   
• U1600 : 1st : 150$, 2nd : 100$, 3rd: 50$;           
• U800 : 1st : 100$, 2nd : 75$, 3rd: 40$
• Per IRS regulations, anyone who receives $2000 or more in cumulative prizes during a calendar year must complete a W-9, and Lightning Square Chess will issue a 1099-MISC form for tax reporting purposes.
