Lexington January Scholastic Chess Tournament & Quad C Team Qualifier

Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Doors open at 7:30 AM)

Location: Rosa Parks Elementary School, 1251 Beaumont Centre Ln, Lexington, KY 40513

Park & enter from the back of the building!

Play will be in the gymnasium.  Spectators will be in the cafeteria.

If you are not part of a team, you can still compete as an individual!

As an individual tournament the best 4 scores in a section for each school are added up to create your team score.

The top 4 KY teams qualify for the KY team championship in Lexington on 3/22.

Late Registration at 8:00 AM Round 1 begins at 8:30 AM

US Chess Federation membership is required before registering!

We expect K-3 to finish by 1:00, K-5 to finish by 2:00, K8 & K12 to finish by 3:30

Sections and time controls:

K-3, K-5: 5 rounds in each section, G/30

K-8, K12: 4 rounds in each section, G/40 +10 seconds per move

Sections may be combined if necessary. Players still compete for prizes in their grade section only, even in a combined section.

Entry Fee: $30 per player online by 8:00 PM Friday Jan. 26, $40 cash for onsite entry

Trophies: 4 in each section for individual & team winners. There will be additional prizes depending on the number of entries.

Refunds: There are no cash refunds. A credit will be given to anyone who withdraws via E-mail by 8:00 PM Friday Feb. 7. The credit is good at either my April or fall tournaments if you enter the replacement tournament via E-mail on the Thursday before the event.
