January Rising Star FIDE Classic on January 13-15, 2024 (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday)

Format: 6-round Swiss tournament

Time Controls:
     3-day Schedule: G/90;+30 all rounds
     2-day Schedule: G/45;+10 for rounds 1-4, G/90;+30 for rounds 5-6

Five Sections:
     Premier (2000 and Up), FIDE Rated
     U2000 (1600-1999, FIDE Rated)
     U1600 (1200-1599)
     U1200 (800-1199)
     U800 (100-799)
     Players rated 1900-1999 may play up into the Premier Section for an additional $25.
     Players within 100 points of rating floor of lower sections may play up for an additional $15.

Important:
     • USCF regular ratings apply for all sections. Premier & U2000 sections also FIDE rated.
     • USCF membership required (may be purchased or renewed at on site)
     • January 2024 USCF ratings will be used for section eligibility, pairings, and prize eligibility.
       Other ratings may be used if higher. The decision of the Chief Tournament Director regarding
       eligibility, rating adjustments, conversions, unofficial ratings, or other rating issues is final.
     • A maximum of two half-point byes are available. Half-point byes must be requested no later than
       30 minutes before the round starts for Rds 1-3. Half-point byes for Rds 4-6 must be requested
       before the start of Round 3 and may not be revoked after Round 3 starts.
     • Boards, sets, AND clocks will be provided for all sections.
     • Special Side Event: Rising Star FIDE Blitz, Sunday, Feb 18 @ 7:30 pm

Prizes: $5000 Total Prize Fund (based on 100 entries):
       Premier: $1000/$500/$250, 1st U2200: $125
       U2000:   $750/$375/$175,   1st U1800: $100
       U1600:   $600/$300/$150,   1st U1400: $75
       U1200:   $240/$180/$120,   1st U1000: $60
       U800:     Trophies to top 3,  1st U500

     3-Day Rounds: 10:00 am & 3:00 pm Sat, Sun, & Mon
     2-Day Rounds:
          Sun: Rd 1   10:00 am. Rd 2 12:15 pm, Rd 3 3:00 pm, Rd 4 5:15 pm
          Mon: Rd 5* 10:00 am, Rd 6   3:00 pm
          *Merge with 3-day schedule

Entry Fees:
     Free entry for any GM/WGM/IM/WIM/FM/WFM
     Premier: $100 early, $110 late, $125 on site.
     U2000:     $90 early, $100 late, $115 on site.
     U1600:     $75 early,   $85 late, $100 on site.
     U1200:     $60 early,   $70 late,   $85 on site.
     U800:       $45 early,   $55 late,   $70 on site.

Re-entry:  3-day players may re-enter into 2-day schedule before 9:15 am on Sunday
                  Re-entry fees: Premier: $35; U2000: $30; U1600: $25; U1200: $20; U800: $15

Online Registration: Rising Star FIDE Classic Registration
Early online registration is available until Dec 29 at midnight MST for 3-day or Dec 30 for 2-day.
Late online registration is available until Jan 12 at midnight MST for 3-day or Jan 13 for 2-day.
On-site registration is until 9:30 am on Jan 13 for 3-day or 9:30 am on Jan 14 for 2-day.
Late on-site registration is available with half point byes for any rounds that are missed.

Hotel: The Mesa DoubleTree Hotel is sold out during that weekend. Please book other accommodations if you are staying overnight.

Refunds: Refunds may be requested until one hour before the start of round 1. No refunds will be given after that time.
                    All refunds will incur a 5% processing fee.
