Irving Swiss

This is a 4-round tournament with a time control of G/30;d5. The event is held at the Texas Chess Center in Irving: 4343 W Royal Ln STE 114, Irving, TX 75063.

General expected schedule (subject to slight variation):

• Registration ends: 1:45pm
• Round 1 pairings posted: 2:00pm
• Opening announcements: 2:05pm
• Round 1 begins: 2:10pm
• Subsequent rounds: ASAP after the completion of the prior round
• Latest expected end-time of last game (most will end far earlier): 7:10pm

After Round 1, subsequent rounds are conducted on an ASAP basis, with midround transitions being employed as often as appropriate. All necessary equipment (clocks, boards, pieces, notation sheets, and pencils) will be supplied for you.

There are three sections, into which entrants are automatically placed (based on their latest Monthly US Chess rating):

• Championship
• U1000
• U600

Players whose Monthly ratings are within 150 points of the section cap may, for a $10 fee, request to play up one section. Approval of this request is subject to the organizers' discretion. Masters (NM+) enjoy free entry, with no deduction from any prizes won.

Prizes (all guaranteed):

• Championship: Cash prizes for 1st and 2nd
  • 1st place receives 20% of total Championship section entry fees
  • 2nd place receives 10% of total Championship section entry fees
  • Minimum prizes are $50 for 1st, $25 for 2nd
• U1000: Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
• U600: Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
