Inaugural Pawnstormers Sunday Scholastic

Join Pawnstormers at beautiful Maumee Valley Country Day School for our kick-off event! Whether an experienced player or a first-timer interested in checking out the world of competitive chess, any K-12 student with a U.S. Chess membership is is eligible to register. The tournament will feature a silent, comfortable playing hall and a nearby, expansive area with ample seating for parents, coaches and other guests to await their players.

Details:

Check-in: 10:30-11:00 a.m.

Format: Five-round Swiss; one half-point bye is available with advance notice to tournament director.

Sections: Open, U900, U600. Players are welcome to "play up" upon request, and unrated players may play in any section.

Time Control: G/30, d5 (30 minutes per side with a five-second delay before the clock starts each move).

Entry Fee: Early Bird Special! $30 before May 1; $40 thereafter.

All players must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the duration of the tournament.

Chess sets will be provided, but players must bring their own clocks. Players should know how to operate their clocks.

Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each section.
