Event Overview
The ICA Open is a one-day, USCF rated tournament for players rated above 1800.
Players must have an 1800 USCF rating in either: 1) the monthly published rating supplement or, 2) live rating based on recently submitted tournaments.
Registration Fee and Information: The early bird registration fee is $50, while regular registration is $60. Free entry is available to Grandmasters (GMs) and International Masters (IMs). Eligible players should email Click here to show mail address to receive a registration coupon. Registration closes at 12 pm on the day of the tournament or when we reach our capacity of 60 players.

Tournament Format: The event follows a 3-round Swiss-System format. Time control is G60 with a 5-second delay.
Schedule: Rounds will be held as follows — 2:00 PM, 4:15 PM, 6:30 PM.
Byes: Only one half-point bye is allowed if requested before the start of round 1.
Equipment: All players are required to bring their own clocks. Boards and chess sets will be provided.
Late Arrivals: Will be handled according to standard USCF regulations.
Parents and Caregivers: There is a designated waiting area where parents and caregivers can supervise young players.
Parking and Directions: Ample parking is available behind the church, next to a small playground. After parking, enter through the door marked “International Chess Academy” and proceed to the second floor.
Public Transportation:
- By Train: Glen Rock has two nearby NJ Transit stations — Glen Rock - Main Line and Glen Rock - Boro Hall — both within walking distance of ICA.
- By Bus: Routes 164, 164B, 164E, and 175B all stop directly in front of ICA at Rock Road and Central Avenue.
Prizes: Prizes (based on 30 entries, 70% guarantee) will be awarded in accordance with standard USCF prize distribution rules.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made by 10:00 AM on the day of the tournament will receive a full refund. Cancellations after 10:00 AM are non-refundable. Cancellations can only be made by emailing or calling us.
