USCF rated, you must be a USCF member to participate.  Unrateds welcome!

Open to players age 50 & up as of Oct. 26, 2024.  You do not have to be a Houston resident to play!

ONE SECTION - 4 rounds of G/90,d5.  10:00am & 2:00pm each day.

PRIZE FUND IS $1,800. 1st - $800, guaranteed, the rest of the prize fund is based on 50 paid entries: 2nd - $600.  3rd - $400.   Any draw by agreement prior to 30 moves disqualifies both players from any prize.  All prizes paid via PayPal.

Special prizes for oldest and the one who traveled the furthest.

BYES:  Only one 1/2 point bye allowed and it must be declared before round 1 begins.  NO BYES IN ROUND 4 EXCEPT FOR ZERO POINT BYES.

OPTIONAL UNRATED BLITZ TOURNAMENT FOLLOWING ROUND 2 IS FREE TO ALL REGISTERED PLAYERS!  $100 FIRST PLACE GUARANTEED!

Early Entry Fee $99 thru Wednesday Oct 16th; Regular Entry Fee $115 thru Wednesday Oct 23rd, then $125.  Poison Pawn club members $80 anytime!

CANCELLATION POLICY:  If you cancel and request a refund $15 will be deducted for processing fees, OR you may use the entire amount as a credit for a future tournament entry fee. NO REFUNDS WITHIN 24 HOURS OF ROUND 1 but you may use the entire amount as credit toward a future entry fee.  

All players are subject to being electronically "wanded" (scanned) in order to help prevent cheating.

Location: THE HOUSTON CHESS STUDIO, 250 Patton St. Suite H, Houston, TX 77009. Houston's only brick and mortar chess club.  Centrally located and easy to get to just 2 blocks off I-45 and just inside N. Loop 610.  Three restaurants are located in the same shopping strip as The Studio: The Red Hot Noodle (Asian), Subway, Patron Pizza.  Several others, Tex-Mex, burgers, etc. are within walking distance. Always plenty of FREE PARKING.
