HCC November U1200 Beginner Open;  ($300 in prizes, b/20)

DATE & TIME:   Saturday, November 15, 2025  Round 1 at 1:00PM, Subsequent rounds ASAP 
LOCATION:  Play More Chess Academy, 1227 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06517
TIME CONTROL: G/25,d5   Tournament is expected to finish by ~3:30-3:45pm with a brief awards ceremony.
EVENT FORMAT/SECTIONS:  Only open to beginning players (any age).  Open to new USCF members without a USCF rating or USCF members with rating U1200
BYES:  No byes permitted for this three round tournament.  All participants are expected to complete all of their games (three rounds)
ENTRY FEE: $30-45  (Discounts for early entry and for Hamden Chess Club members) $30 (Additional $10 for non-HCC members) by Tuesday prior; Then $40 all players through Thu 11:59PM;thereafter $50 until 11:00AM (two hours before Rd 1) day of tournament.
PRIZES:  $300 based on 20 players;  $150-$100; Top female: $50.  Trophies: Top U900 and Top U600, choice of chess medals available players not receiving cash prize.  Any Unrated player is limited to $100 (balance of any limited prize goes to next eligible player(s) in line).  Top female prize can go to Unrated player.

ENTRY DEADLINE:  Early entry discounted fee deadline: Tuesday 11:59PM (Tuesday before tournament);  Regular entry deadline: Saturday, 11:00AM (Saturday - day of tournament).  No on-site registration.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:  All players must be current members of US Chess to register for this tournament (go to USCHESS.org to join or renew your USCF membership/membership ID number).  Must register for HCC tournaments in advance - first registered, first served  (space is limited).  Chess sets, DGT3000 clocks and scoresheets provided. No need to bring anything-must use our chess sets and clocks.
