HCC November Game-in-45 Challenge ($600 in prizes, b/24; 2 sections)

DATE & TIME:  Saturday, November 22, 2025;  1:00PM~6:00PM  (Round 1 at 1:00PM, subsequent rounds ASAP) .
LOCATION:  Play More Chess Academy, Home of the Hamden Chess Club, 1227 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06517
EVENT FORMAT:  G/45, d5;  3-SS; Two Sections:  Open (rating floor for Open is 1400); and U1600 
ELIGIBILITY:  A current USCF membership is required to play in this tournament (see link in notes below to join or renew. This tournament is open to all adult players ages 13+ of any rating, including Unrated.   (Players who are under age 13, but have a USCF rating of 700+ are also eligible for this tournament).
BYES:  One irrevocable half-point bye available any round; Must be declared by end of registration.
ENTRY FEE:  
Register Online; Early Entry: $40 for HCC Member; (Non-HCC Member: Additional $10 Fee; by 11:59PM Tuesday prior);  Free Early entry for titled players (GMs, IMs and NMs) with no entry fee deducted from prize;  Then $50 by 11:59PM Thursday prior);  Regular Entry: $60 thereafter,  until 2 hours before Round 1.  
PRIZES:  $600, based on 24 paid entries (Open Section: $150-100, Top Female $50;  U1600 Section: $125-75, Top Female $50;  Biggest Upset in tournament $50).  Players with tie score within section share prizes equally.  
PRIZE LIMITS: Unrated player: $100 limit.  Unrated player not eligible for Biggest upset prize and place prize is limited to $100 for unrated player. 
PLAY UP LIMIT: 200 POINTS. i.e. player with rating 1400-1599 may choose to play in either section.

ENTRY DEADLINE:  11:00AM day of tournament (the registration closes two hours before tournament start time) or player limit of 36 whichever is first.
SCHEDULE OF ROUNDS: Rd. 1: 1:00PM, then asap.  (The Playwright Irish Pub & Restaurant, across street, offeres free beverage with Entree/Burger purchase (show copy of flyer).

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION:  Free parking is available on behind the Academy, including free street parking on Putnam/Lake Drive that goes behind the Academy; additional free parking at 60 Putnam Ave (one block West) (See Parking Map).  CT Transit bus stop is adjacent to Academy at intersection of Putnam/Whitney Ave.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:  All players must be current members of US Chess (go to USCHESS.org to join or renew your USCF membership/membership ID number. HCC Affiliate # is A6054128.  Chess sets, boards, DGT clocks provided (must use our equipment).  Score sheets and pens are also provided.  Games on top boards may be broadcast live at: https://playmorechess.com/livegames.htm.  
WITHDRAWALS/REFUNDS:  If you cannot make it to the tournament, and have to withdraw, email:  [email protected].  A request for a refund may be made no later than 24 hours before the tournament start time (1:00PM day prior).  Refunds for this tournament must be requested by email and are subject to a $15 cancellation fee to cover administrative and credit card transaction fees.
