HCC November Action Quads ($300 in prizes, b24)

DATE & TIME:  Monday, November 17, 2025;  6:30~9:00PM  (Round 1 at 6:30PM, subsequent rounds ASAP.  End time: Between 8:30-9:30PM depending on quad).
LOCATION:  Play More Chess Academy, Home of the Hamden Chess Club, 1227 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06517
TIME CONTROL:  G/25, d5
EVENT FORMAT: Quads - Players placed in groups of four by their US Chess regular rating to ensure closer matchups.  3 Rounds.  
ELIGIBILITY:   A current USCF membership is required to register for this tournament (go to https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess to join or renew). This quad tournament open to all adult players ages 13+ of any rating level, including Unrated. (Players who are under 13 who have a USCF rating of 700+ are also eligible for this tournament).   This tournament provides an opportunity to play three regular rated games in one week day evening.
BYES:  None available as this is a three-round Quads tournament. All participants are expected to play all three games.
WHEN:  HCC Monthly Action Quads occur once a month, usually occur on the 3rd Monday of the month (with the other Monday evenings open for casual play). Please check the Events Calendar to confirm dates of upcoming HCC tournaments.
ENTRY FEE:  $20-$35 (Discounts for Early Entry and HCC members)  Early entry - $20 HCC members (by 11:59PM Tuesday prior - non-HCC members, additional $10); Free early entry for titled players (GMs, IMs and NMs) with no entry fee deducted from any prize. Then $30, by 11:59PM Thursday prior;  Thereafter, $35 until 6:00PM day of tournament.
PRIZES:  $300, b/24;  ($50 to the winner of each quad. A 2nd place prize of $25 added if a swiss section of 5-7 players is needed due to number of players not divisible by four).
SECTIONS: Participants grouped into Quads (groups of four) at close of registration based on USCF regular rating.

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION:  Free parking is available on behind the Academy, including free street parking on Putnam/Lake Drive that goes behind Play More Chess Academy. (See Parking Map).  CT Transit bus stop is adjacent to Academy at intersection of Putnam/Whitney Ave.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:  All players must be current members of US Chess (go to USCHESS.org to join or renew your USCF membership/membership ID number).  Must register for HCC tournaments in advance. Sets, boards, clocks, score sheets are provided - must use our equipment. Pens and scoresheets also available.  Quad tournament players are not permitted to withdraw mid-event - participants must plan to play all three rounds. Space is limited to 36 players.
