HCC February Fortress G/45 Quads

DATE & TIME:
Saturday, February 25, 2023
1:00PM  (Round 1 at 1:00PM; subsequent rounds ASAP; End time between 4:30-6:00PM depending on Quad.

QUAD FORMAT:
The HCC will conduct a quad US Chess rated tournament open to adults (ages 13+) of all levels.  Any players under 13 must have USCF rating 800+ to be eligible to play in this tournament.  Quads, which group players by their skill level, are a great way to ensure closer matchups for a more fun and competitive challenge.  

HOW IT WORKS:

• Players must register in advance
• 3 USCF rated games
• Tournament is limited to the first 36 players who register
• Entries are first registered, first served
• Quads are open to all adult players ages 13+ (Under 13 who have a USCF rating of 800+ are also eligible to participate).  Scholastic players should also see our monthly Scholastic Tournaments which are open to all students (K-12) of all rating levels.

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION:
Free parking is available on behind the Academy, including free street parking on Putnam/Lake Drive that goes behind the Academy and adjacent Books and Co. Connecticut Transit Bus stop is adjacent to Academy at intersection of Putnam/Whitney Ave.

PRIZES:
$60 to the winner of each quad, $65 for perfect 3-0 score

TIME CONTROL:
G/45, d5   (Each player receives 45 minutes, plus a 5 second delay each move, to complete each game).

ENTRY FEE:
Early entry - $35 (by 11:59PM Thursday prior);  Early entry (HCC Member) - $25;  Free early entry for HCC member rated 2000+ (entry fee deducted from prize)
Regular entry - $40 (by 11:00AM day of tournament);  Regular entry (HCC Member) - $30

OTHER NOTES:

• All players must be current members of US Chess (go to USCHESS.org to join or renew your USCF membership/membership ID number)
• Must register for each of our tournaments in advance - first registered, first served  (space is limited).  No on-site registration.
• Quad players are not permitted to withdraw mid-event.  Those registered are expected to play all three rounds!
• Check PlayMoreChess.com to confirm dates for all HCC tournaments.  Any changes due to snow or inclement weather will also be posted on the web site and emailed to registrants

WITHDRAWALS/CONTACT:

• If you cannot make it to the tournament, and have to withdraw, email:  info@playmorechess.com.  A request for a refund may be made no later than Thursday, 11:59PM (Thursday prior to tournament).  Refunds for this tournament must be requested by email and are subject to a $15 cancellation fee.
