1:00PM  (Round 1 at 1:00PM; subsequent rounds ASAP)

QUAD FORMAT:
The HCC will conduct a "quad" US Chess rated tournament open to all adult players ages 13+.  Any players under 13 must have have US Chess ratings 1000+ to be eligible to play in this tournament.  Quads, which group players by their skill level, are a great way to ensure closer matchups for a more fun and competitive challenge.  

HOW IT WORKS:

• Players must register in advance
• 3 USCF rated games
• Tournament is limited to the first 28 players who register
• Entries are first registered, first served
• Quads are open to all adult players ages 13+
• Quads are open players under 13 with US Chess rating of 1000+.   Scholastic players should also see our Monthly Scholastic Tournaments offered on Saturdays, which are open to all students (K-12) of all rating levels.

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION:
Free parking is available on behind the Academy, including free street parking on Putnam/Lake Drive that goes behind the Academy and adjacent Books and Co. Connecticut Transit Bus stop is adjacent to Academy at intersection of Putnam/Whitney Ave.

ROUND TIMES:
Round 1:1:00PM
Round 2: ASAP
Round 3: ASAP
End time: Between 4:30-6:00PM depending on quad.  

FORMAT:
Quads - players are placed in groups of four by their most recent US Chess regular rating to help ensure close matchups

PRIZES:
$60 to the winner of each quad, $65 for perfect 3-0 score

TIME CONTROL:
G/45, d5
US Chess Regular Rated
Each player receives 45 minutes, plus a 5 second delay each move, to complete each game

ENTRY FEE:
Early entry HCC Members: $25  (by 11:59PM Thursday prior)
Early entry Non-Members: $35  (by 11:59PM Thursday prior)
Regular entry HCC Members: $30 (by 11:00AM day of tournament)
Regular entry Non-Members: $40  (by 11:00AM day of tournament)
HCC Members rated 2000+:  Free Entry ($25 deducted from any prize; deadline by 11:00AM day of tournament)

ENTRY DEADLINE:
11:00AM day of tournament

OTHER NOTES:

• All players must be current members of US Chess (go to USCHESS.org to join or renew your membership/membership ID number)
• Must register for each of our tournaments in advance - first registered, first served  (space is limited)
• Quad players are not permitted to withdraw mid-event.  Forfeiters will not be able to enter future HCC events!

WITHDRAWALS/CONTACT:

• If you cannot make it to the tournament, and have to withdraw, email:  [email protected].  A request for a refund may be made no later than Thursday, 11:59PM (Thursday prior to tournament).  Refunds for this tournament must be requested by email and are subject to a $15 cancellation fee.
