Grandmaster Larry Christiansen at Media Chess Club

We are excited to welcome Grandmaster Larry Christiansen to the Media Chess Club on Tuesday, November 18th for an evening of world-class chess instruction and play.

Larry is one of America’s most accomplished players—three-time U.S. Champion (1980, 1983, 2002), former World Championship contender, and a renowned author and commentator. He was awarded the Grandmaster title by FIDE in 1977 and has represented the U.S. in numerous international competitions. Read Larry’s full bio.

Schedule

• 7:00 – 7:30 pm — Chess Lecture
• 7:30 – 7:45 pm — Question & Answer Session
• 7:45 – 10:15 pm — Simultaneous Exhibition (limit 30 boards)

Spots in the simultaneous exhibition are limited and will be filled on a first come basis.
The lecture and Q&A are open to all, even if you are not playing in the simul.

Registration & Rates

• Media Chess Club members (dues paid): Free entry to the simul
• Non-members: $20 per simul board (includes a one-year membership to the Media Chess Club)

Important Notes

• Lecture and Q&A are open to everyone—you do not need to play in the simul to attend.
• If you register for the simul but cannot attend, please notify us promptly so another player can take your spot.
• After the simul, from 10:15 pm until late, GM Christiansen will be at State Street Pub (37 E State Street, Media) for casual 21+ blitz games. Participation in the simul is not required to join.
