Format:  Five round, Swiss System tournament.  No one is eliminated.  You may request one, one half point bye, if requested before the first round.

Time Controls:  G/30;d5

Sections:  Sections will be USCF-rated, with the exception of one K-5 unrated section.  Please note that we’re trying to promote the growth of chess.  Becoming a member of the USCF and participating in rated tournaments is a great way to track your progress!  The awards in the unrated section will not be as prestigious as in the rated sections.  You must have a current membership to the United States Chess Federation in order to participate in rated sections. Rounds: We will begin each round as soon as we are able.  Our goal is to run an excellent and efficient tournament.  Check-in will begin at 8:00.  Announcements will be at 8:45 and round 1 will begin as close to 9:00 as possible.

Awards:  Trophies to the top six finishers in each rated section.  Those finishing with a score of 3.0 or higher in the U300 and U600 will also earn a trophy.  The top three teams in each rated section will earn a trophy for their school.  A team consists of a minimum of two players per school in the same section.  In the unrated section, those scoring 3.0 or higher will earn a trophy.  There will be no team trophies for the unrated section.

Concessions:  Our amazing volunteers will have items coffee and doughnuts for breakfast, as well as lunch items.  Don’t miss the Glen Oak Meal!  For just $5.00 you can get a slice of pizza, chips, cookie and a drink.

Back for 2025:  We are giving away free t-shirts to all who register by Friday, October 10.  A t-shirt is not guaranteed for those registering after this date.

Entry fees:  $35.00 by October 10.  $45.00 after.  No on-site registration!  We may need to stop accepting registrations if we reach capacity.  A limited number of partial fee waivers will be available to those in financial need.  Please contact the tournament director with any questions regarding a fee waiver.
