Genius Wizards Chess Tournament for Grades K-12:

Genius Wizards is excited to present our Monthly Scholastic Swiss, a 3-round Swiss system tournament tailored for players in grades K-12. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned competitor, there's a section designed just for you. However, please note that players must be USCF registered. You can register your child here: Join US Chess | US Chess.org. Notation will be required for players in rated sections.

Date: Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

Sections:

  1. Beginners (Unrated or USCF 800) - Suited for those who want to gain confidence in tournaments, with a G/25-d5 time control, running from 10:00 AM sharp to approximately 1:00 PM. Sign up here: Chess Tournament (Beginners) – Genius Wizards.
  2. Intermediate (USCF rating below 1200) - Designed for active players seeking a competitive edge with a G/30-d5 time control, beginning at 10:15 AM and concluding around 2:30 PM. Sign up here: Chess Tournament (Intermediate) – Genius Wizards.

Note: Players whose ELO rating is between 800 and 1200 can only sign up for the Intermediate Section.

Format/Sections:

  • Two Sections: Beginners and Intermediate.
  • Each section consists of 3 rounds.
  • Time Control varies based on the section.

Registration Fee:

  • Beginners: $35 (USCF membership required)
  • Intermediate: $35 (USCF membership required)

Byes Policy:

A half-point bye is a nonrated draw without play or an opponent. You may request a half-point bye if you cannot play a round. Byes must be requested at least two (2) hours before the tournament starts.

Limited Spots: Secure your place early! "Advanced registration required." Reserve your spot through our website: Shop – Genius Wizards. USCF membership is required for all sections. Registration will close upon reaching the first 50 sign-ups online. On-site registrations may be considered at the tournament director's discretion, but securing your spot online is advisable.
 

Prize Fund (Special Conditions): Trophies will be awarded in each section for FIRST and SECOND places only. Medals will be Awarded to the rest.

Important Reminders:

  1. A valid USCF Membership is mandatory.
  2. Food and drinks (except for water) are not permitted in the tournament room.

USCF Registration Assistance: If parents require assistance registering their kids with the United States Chess Federation (USCF), they can contact us via phone at 201-830-7944 or email at [email protected]. On-site assistance will also be available. However, parents should note that USCF registration incurs a separate fee of $20 per child, distinct from the event fees.
