Event Overview
• OUR ONE-TIME GRAND OPENING TOURNAMENT! Thursday, October 16 from 4:00 to 9:30 PM CST.
• This tournament will use Swiss pairings and is open to players in Grades K-12.
• There will be five rounds of G/25+5. The first round starts at 4:00 PM CST, and the rest of the rounds are on a rolling schedule. There will be a 1-minute administrative break between rounds.
• Players can take up to 1 half-point bye and unlimited 0-point byes in any round. Players may withdraw from the event at any time.
• Before signing up for the tournament, please register for a lichess.org account (it's free!) if you do not already have one. Please provide your Lichess username in the "Online Username" field when you
complete the registration form. Players must participate in the tournament with the same account they registered with.
• Trophies will be mailed to the top K-12 and top K-5 players. If the top K-5 player is also the top K-12 player, the top K-5 player will receive the K-12 trophy and the second-highest K-5 player will receive the
K-5 trophy. Tiebreaks are calculated using the Sonneborn-Berger method, followed by Lichess performance rating, followed by coin flip. Players who live outside of the contiguous United States may be asked to pay a foreign shipping fee or forfeit their trophy due to the increased shipping costs for international orders.
• Free online computer analysis of all games will be available on Lichess immediately after the tournament!
• Entry fee: GRAND OPENING SALE! JUST $20 $10 if paid by 10/9, $30 $15 if paid by 10/16 at 3:00 PM CST.
• After registering, you will receive an email from us with instructions on how to join the tournament online. If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder or email us at [email protected].
• REGISTRATION CLOSES ON 10/16 AT 3:00 PM CST! LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
• If any of a player's Lichess accounts have ever been marked as using outside assistance, we reserve the right to (a) deny entry for the player into all or part of the tournament, (b) annul or submit as rated forfeit losses any of that player's completed games, (c) grant only a partial refund, or deny a refund, for the player's entry fee, (d) temporarily or permanently ban the player from participating in our future tournaments, and/or (e) request USCF action on their end, such as temporary or permanent ban from all USCF-rated events, at our sole discretion.
