Event Overview
FINN CHESS TOURNAMENTS
6 - Round G/25, d5
OR
3 - Round G/60, d5*
WITH Rated Blitz Match After Each Round For BOTH Sections
**Both sections will compete for the same cash prize, based on a weighted points scale.
(Format deliberately skewed towards the G/25 section to encourage more players into the Action section.)
G/60: 3 points win, 2 points draw, 1 point loss
G/25: 2 points win, 1 point draw, .75 point loss.
Blitz: 1 point win, .5 points draw, .25 points loss.
So the winners are the total scores added together of the Standard Games (G/25 or G/60) and Blitz. Everyone has the opportunity to play 6 rated blitz games.
Date: SUNDAY, 7/3/22.

G/25, d5

How this will work:
After each G/25 round, you and your opponent will play a USCF-rated blitz G/5, opposite colors of the G/25 game. You can opt to forfeit this game and not play, giving your opponent the unrated victory and tournament points.
After each G/60 round, you and your opponent will play a two-game USCF-rated G/5 blitz match, starting with the opposite color of the G/60 game, then switching colors for the second game. You can opt to forfeit these games and not play, giving your opponent unrated victories and tournament points.
*G/60 eligibility - must have minimum rating of 1400 and be at least age 14/high-school. No restriction on G/25 section. The eligibility requirement is to minimize the amount of players who finish their games early to reduce noise and turning into a "shush"-show.
**Players can switch sections mid-tournament. If a G/60 game finishes early, a player can jump into a G/25. They would receive the higher of the two scores for that two-round block, not both. Example: Player A plays Round 1 G/60, and wins in 30 minutes. That's three points. Then Player A jumps into the G/25, and plays Round 2, and wins. That's 2 points. Player A receives 3 points, not 5 points. Same goes for the blitz points. This set-up is to encourage players to play and not be idle.

The most efficient way to gain rating points is Action Chess. Why play a six-hour game when you can play a one-hour game for the same rating points? With modern computer analysis, chess growth happens away from the board, reviewing played games. SIX COMPLETE GAMES in the same time of one traditional tournament game means six times the learning opportunity and six times the potential rating point gain - all in one afternoon.
Action Chess is the most competitive and most fun form of standard-rated chess! If you're trying to become an Expert, Master, or scholastic player trying to move up the age lists, Action Chess is your best way to achieve your goals.
