A Qualifying Event for the the 2024 Kentucky Closed Championships!

US Chess Membership is REQUIRED. All US Chess rules will be followed.
Membership must be current through March 2024
Membership will NOT be available onsite, sign up at uschess.org 
Please bring membership ID number to the tournament
 
Notation is required for all players. Players 8 years old or younger (or their parents) can ask tournament director before Round 1 for an exemption.
 
Players younger than high school age (~14) must be accompanied by an adult.

FORMAT

One open Section - Open to all players with current US Chess Membership (REQUIRED)
4 Rounds SS: G25;d5 (clocks will be set to 25 minutes per player, 5 second delay)

ENTRY FEE

$20 if preregistered online by 3/22/24, $30 late registrations (on 3/23) CASH ONLY payment is due before round one begins

SCHEDULE

Check-in and registration 11:30 to 11:50 AM Saturday.
CASH ONLY payment is due before round one begins
Round 1 starts at Noon with next rounds ASAP (approximately 1:15, 2:30, and 3:45 PM)
Players arriving after registration will receive one half-point bye and will be paired in subsequent rounds. A half-point bye may be requested for any round during registration only.

PRIZES

Prize fund based on 30 paid entries, cash prizes will be distributed soon after the completion of round 4. Closed Championship invitations are not determined on site - invitations will be sent out by KCA (Kentucky Chess Association).

OTHER

A limited number of chess boards, pieces, and clocks are available, please bring your own if you have them.

In the event of of a perfect score tie (4.0/4.0) for qualifying for the closed event a tie break game will be played G15;d0
