Duke February Classic

Join the Duke University Chess Club for our second tournament of the semester! Open to students and non-students alike. Swiss format. 

Time control will be G40+5s with 4 rounds. Sections will be divided into U1600 and Open. Players must have a USCF rating of at least 1500 in order to play up.

Entry: $30 cash at time of tournament. There is an ATM within walking distance of the playing area. Players titled National Master, FIDE Master, Women's FIDE Master, or higher will receive free entry to be deducted from any winnings.

Prizes: 

• U1600: $100, $75, $50. 
• Open: $100, $75,  $50. 

     ***Prizes are contingent upon participation of at least 15 players. If there are fewer than 15 players, 100% of entry fees will be given as prizes distributed proportionally to the prizes listed. 

Schedule:

• Check in: 9:30 to 9:45
• Game 1: 10:00 to 11:30
• Game 2: 11:40 to 1:10
  • 40-minute break for lunch
• Game 3: 1:50 to 3:20
• Game 4: 3:30 to 5:00

Byes must be submitted at least 30 minutes before the start of the tournament in order to receive a half-point. Byes requested afterward will receive 0 points.
