EVENT OVERVIEW

Tournament information

  1. This event consists of two blitz tournaments.
  2. Start time for both events is 7pm.
  3. Entry fee is $8.  Cash only.
  4. All games will be USCF-rated.  A USCF membership is required to participate.
  5. Registration for each tournament will close on tournament day at 6:45pm.  Late registrations will likely be turned away.  I strongly recommend not attempting to sign up in person unless you will be on site by 6:30pm.
  6. Time control for both events is G5 d0 ("five minutes per player per game").
  7. Byes and make-up games are not possible.
  8. The structure of the tournaments will depend on the number of players that sign up.  4-6 players = Double round-robin.  8-10 players = Round robin.  12+ players will be split into multiple sections.
  9. Prize fund.  $5 per player.  50% of the pool goes to 1st place.  30% to second place.  20% to third place.  When the number of players necessitates a split into multiple sections, each section will have its own pool and prize winners.
  10. All games will take place at the West Orange Chess Club, located at the Toby Katz Community Center, 650 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange.  (It's tricky to find -- take the access road between the high school and baseball fields.  Look for a little building at the end of the road.
  11. Boards, sets, and clocks will be provided.
  12. Players may register via our online registration form.

  1. This event is restricted to players whose regular, quick, and blitz ratings are all less than 1200.
