EVENT OVERVIEW
Tournament information
- This event consists of two blitz tournaments.
- Start time for both events is 7pm.
- Entry fee is $8. Cash only.
- All games will be USCF-rated. A USCF membership is required to participate.
- Registration for each tournament will close on tournament day at 6:45pm. Late registrations will likely be turned away. I strongly recommend not attempting to sign up in person unless you will be on site by 6:30pm.
- Time control for both events is G5 d0 ("five minutes per player per game").
- Byes and make-up games are not possible.
- The structure of the tournaments will depend on the number of players that sign up. 4-6 players = Double round-robin. 8-10 players = Round robin. 12+ players will be split into multiple sections.
- Prize fund. $5 per player. 50% of the pool goes to 1st place. 30% to second place. 20% to third place. When the number of players necessitates a split into multiple sections, each section will have its own pool and prize winners.
- All games will take place at the West Orange Chess Club, located at the Toby Katz Community Center, 650 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange. (It's tricky to find -- take the access road between the high school and baseball fields. Look for a little building at the end of the road.
- Boards, sets, and clocks will be provided.
- Players may register via our online registration form.
December 12 - Beginning and Intermediate players
- This event is restricted to players whose regular, quick, and blitz ratings are all less than 1200.

- Players in this section may be new to blitz chess. The differences in the rules will be briefly discussed before the event begins. A list of rules differences will also be posted.
December 19 - Advanced players
- This event is restricted to players who have a regular OR quick OR blitz rating above 1200.
- Players in this section are expected to be familiar with blitz rules. (A list of rules differences will be posted for those in need of a refresher.)
