DC MetroChess 2024 Scholastic Tournament (In Person)

Format:
Open to all students currently enrolled in elementary, middle, or high school
Four rounds in swiss format G/45, d5
Each side has 45 minutes with a 5 second delay to complete his or her moves per game.

First round starts 9:00 am
Subsequent rounds occur as soon as possible

Sections & Time control:
Four grade-based sections at this tournament event. Players can play up but can not play down their grades.
Section K-3 G/45,d5
Section K-5 G/45,d5
Section K-8 G/45,d5
Section K-12 G/45, d5

Prizes:
Trophy for top three players in each section.
Top Girls Trophy
Top Teams Trophy
Medals for players who score 2 or more total points in four rounds

Registration Fee:
$35 online by midnight 01/12/2024

Boards and Clocks:
Boards and pieces will be provided for all players.
Please bring your own clocks. We don’t have enough clocks for everyone.

Byes:
All rounds allowed, must commit 20 minutes before round 1; limit 1 bye in all sections.

Default/Forfeit Time:
30 min after start
