Event Overview
The Key Facts
Innovative Chess Solutions is pleased to unveil its first Daily Movers Scholastic Chess Championship, an online chess tournament beginning on May 15, 2022. This event is the only scholastic tournament now available that will be rated by the USCF as a correspondence tournament. In this unique event, you will be assigned five games against opponents around your rating level, and every day you will make one move in each of those games.
Just one move a day! This means that you do not have to commit to playing a whole day, nor do you need to rush in your games. You are free to spend five minutes a day (i.e., one minute per game) or five hours. Whatever suits you the best. After the tournament concludes, you will receive a correspondence chess rating from the USCF (something most players do not have), and depending on your performance, maybe a nice prize too!
Additional Benefits
1. Play from Anywhere
As this tournament will be held on Chess.com, the world’s leading chess platform, you have the power to play from anywhere on the Globe that has an internet connection.
2. Affordable
The entry fee for this tournament starts at just $10, increasing to $18 on April 26 and $22 on May 7. Not sure if you can play yet? Register anyway because your entry fee is fully refundable until seven days before the tournament.
3. Easy to Play
Participating in this tournament is as easy as apple pie. Four easy steps and you’re done!
4. Educational
This tournament is a great learning experience for any player. Because players will have twenty-four hours at their disposal to make moves, they are not forced to rush, as is usually the case in most online tournaments. This extended time prepares them for more serious over-the-board competitions where they could have hours on the clock. Also, as players will have to make some number of moves every day, it ensures that they are practicing chess on a daily basis, even if just for a few minutes daily.

Credits expire two years after issuance.
Ratings: This tournament will affect your USCF correspondence rating and chess.com daily rating. Sections will be paired using the greater of players’ regular OTB and regular online ratings as published in the May Supplement.
Projected Sections: Open, U1600, U1200, U800, U400
Section Assignments: Players will be assigned to six-person sections in order of rating, so that the six highest rated players will be assigned to one section, the next six highest rated to another section and so on. These section projections are only estimates and will be adjusted after the close of registration. Accordingly, the number of sections may increase or decrease depending upon the number of registrations. If the last section has less than six players, that section will be merged with the next highest section and the prizes for such section will be adjusted in such manner as the organizer may specify. All of these sections will be paired as Round Robin tournaments, meaning that you will play every other player in your section. The only exception to this rule is that, if a section is merged, the organizer will pair that section as nearly as possible according to the Swiss System.
Prizes: Except for merged sections, first place in every section will receive a $50 Amazon Gift Card and second place will be entitled to free entry at any of our upcoming online tournaments. Free entries are valid for six months following issuance, are nontransferable and have no cash value. In the Open section, first place will also receive the title of Daily Mover Scholastic Chess Champion, accompanied by a formal certificate sent by email. In the event of ties, gift cards will be equally divided between the contestants thereof. Other ties will be resolved by the following tiebreaks: Modified Median, Solkoff, Cumulative, Kashdan, Sonneborn-Berger and Cumulative of Opposition.
Fair-Play: Unlike most other online tournaments, you are allowed to use chess books and periodicals to assist yourself in choosing moves. However, other forms of assistance, including consulting other chess players and using computer engines, is strictly prohibited. After the tournament has concluded, there will be a one-week fair play checking period before any prizes are issued. If you use a chess engine or other computerized assistance to determine moves, chess.com will almost certainly detect your activities and close your account. If this occurs, all of your games will be marked as forfeit losses (and your opponents will receive forfeit wins) and you will be disqualified from receiving any prize. Technical Provisions: This is not an automated chess.com tournament. Rather, players will individually challenge each other to daily chess (i.e., not live chess) games set with the correct colors and a time control of one day. As soon as possible, you should create a chess.com account (its free!) if you do not already have one and then request to join our chess.com club, Innovative Chess Solutions Tournament Hall. On the day preceding the tournament, you will receive an email with your section assignment and pairings. You will then issue a challenge for a daily chess game to each of your opponents where you are playing white. If you are playing black, you should accept challenges from all of your opponents assigned the color white as soon as possible. Although players can issue and accept challenges as soon as pairings are released, all challenges should be issued by 11:59pm on May 15 (Central Time). Once all of your games start, all you have to do is to make your moves on time and have fun! When a game concludes, both players must report the result within two days of completion.
