Sections: Open (all ages), K-1, K-3, K-5, K-8, K-12

Format: 4-SS (4 rounds / games; Swiss System - everyone plays 4 games).
G/45,d5 (45 minutes per side, 5 second delay per move).

Schedule:  Check in 9:15 am - 9:45 am. 1st round starts at 10 am.

Awards:

  • Open section (based on 20+ entries): 1st = $200, 2nd = $75, $3rd = $50, U1600 = $50
  • Scholastic sections: Individual 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophy for each section. Top team trophy for each section. Top girl trophy for each section.
    • K-12: Trophies plus 1st = $50, 2nd = $30, 3rd = $20
    • K-8: Trophies plus 1st = $35, 2nd = $25, 3rd = $15
    • K-5: Trophies plus 1st = $25, 2nd = $20, 3rd = $10
    • K-3: Trophies plus 1st = $15, 2nd = $10, 3rd = $5
    • K-1: Trophies only

Entry fee: Please pay at the door upon check-in.

  • Open section: $35
  • Scholastic sections:
    • $25 - Standard rate
    • $40 - Supporter rate; comparable to tournaments in Maryland and Virginia and enables you to contribute to DC State Chess Federation’s mission of ensuring chess access and opportunities to all.
    • $5 - Access rate; available for all for whom a higher entry fee is an obstacle.

Charles Louis Brown (1936-2012) was an American guitarist, bandleader and singer known as "The Godfather of Go-Go". Go-go is "a hypnotically danceable genre deeply rooted in funk and soul that he developed in the early 1970s" while living in Washington, DC.
