ChessPalace Scholastic Tournaments

ChessPalace's Scholastic Tournament is a monthly, US Chess-rated tournament for players in kindergarten through 12th Grade. This is an opportunity for young players to practice competing and get monthly rated games.

A. Schedule

• Fourth Sundays of the Month
• Check in by 9:45 am
• First Round: 10 am
• 5 Rounds
• The estimated end time is around 3/3:30 pm.

B. Tournament Format

• Time Control: Game 30 minutes, 5-second delay
• Four sections
  1. K-12th grade Open section (1100+)
  2. K-8th grade Under 1100
  3. K-6th grade rated under 800
  4. K-3rd grade under 400
• Maximum one half-point bye allowed

C. Registration

• $40 ($50 onsite); Tournament limited to the first 60 players to sign up. Please register early.
• $5 admin fee for cancellations & refunds.

D. Awards

• Trophies are awarded to the Top 5 finishers in each section

E. Other Info

• Players must have an active membership with the US Chess Federation. (Players can sign up or renew it in person at the tournament site.)
• Players are encouraged to bring their tournament-regulation chess clock (if they have one) and have it already set up to the relevant time control.
• The chess club will provide the chessboard and sets.
• We recommend bringing a light sweater as the venue is indoors and has the AC on
• Water refill stations are available on-site
• Free parking on site
