ChessPalace April Blitz

A. Schedule & Location

• Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 7pm
• First Round: 7:00 pm and consecutive rounds are on a rolling schedule.
• Location: ChessPalace 5246 Lampson Ave. Garden Grove, CA 92845 (click here to map)- Free parking

B. Tournament Format:

• Swiss System format
• 5 rounds of double games (5DSS) Players will play TWO games in one round: against the same opponent with alternating colors.
• Time Control: G/5+0 (Game in 5 minutes with 0-second delay or increment.)
• Games will be US Chess blitz rated.
• One Open section
• Maximum one half-point bye allowed

C. Registration:

• Entry Fee: $15 advance registration ($30 onsite)
• ChessPalace Member: $0

D. Other Info:

• Award: 1st place finisher-Trophy and a Complimentary entry to the next monthly Blitz tournament
• Players must have an active US Chess Federation membership at the time of play.
• Players are encouraged to bring their own tournament regulation size sets and clock. The chess club does have sets available to borrow should the need arise.
• Complimentary water, coffee, and cookies will be available for refreshments 
• Spectators are welcome to watch and/or to play casual games ($10 entry)
