CHESS ZONE 2023 SCHOLASTIC CHAMPIONSHIP

Four Rounds, Swiss System, USCF rated

Open all scholastic players (K-12) from unrated to 1299.

SECTIONS and PRIZES:
U600: Open to scholastic players under 600 and unrated. Trophies to 1st-5th place and all with a plus score. Medals to all that don’t win a trophy.
U1300: Open to scholastic players between 600 and 1299. Trophies to 1st-5th place and all with a plus score. Medals to all that don’t win a trophy.

Time Control: G/25; inc. 5; USCF dual rated (regular and quick).
Entry Fee: $40.00 if pre-registered; $45.00 at the site. The field is limited to the first 50 registrants.
Schedule: On-site registration ends at 9:45 am.
Rounds:  10:00 am, 11:15 am, 12:30 pm, 1:45 pm
1/2-Pt. Byes: Available, limit two. Must request 1/2-point byes before round 1 begins. 0-point byes available at any time for any round.

Unrated players must obtain a USCF membership (from https://uschess.org). Please arrive 30 minutes before round 1 begins if you need assistance on-site.

All players’ official ratings will be used per the USCF rating supplement for the tournament month. Higher of USCF regular and quick rating will be used sections, pairings and prizes. Players may play up if rating within 100 points of the section requirement. Children may be dropped off at Chess Zone; please return by 2 PM to pick-up.  Please call if questions regarding drop-off policy.
