Event Overview
OVERVIEW
A three round US Chess-rated tournament open to all scholastic (K-12) players. Quads, which group students in sections of 4 by their rating level, are a great way for students to get closer matchups for a more fun and competitive challenge. MAQ is held at our CCC North Branch.
MAQ is a qualifier event to the Tournament of Champions on May 4.

HOW IT WORKS

Players must register weekly and in advance

3 US Chess regular and quick rated games every Monday night

Quad format - students placed into groups of 4 by their most current "live" US Chess regular rating to ensure closer matchups.

Each evening will be limited to the first 42 players to register

Entries are first registered, first served

TIME CONTROL
G/20; Increment 10
Each player receives 20 minutes plus a 10 second bonus each move to complete each game

The Charlotte Chess Center’s North Branch is conveniently located off of I-485 and Benfield Road. Opened in September of 2023, the CCC’s North Branch serves North Charlotte, University City, Concord, Kannapolis, Harrisburg, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Lake Norman, and Mooresville. Regulars visit from both North Carolina and South Carolina.
