Round 1 starts at 1:45p. Subsequent rounds will begin as soon as the prior round completes, with awards after round 5. We expect to finish up around 5:30p.
Sections:
• Adult Rated Premier and U1600
• Scholastic Rated K-5 and K-12
• Unrated non-USCF all ages
- Minimum rating to register for Premier section: 1450
- Sections may be combined if there are fewer than 6 players registered for any section
Entry Fees with online registration:
• Premier and U1600: $20
• Scholastic: $15
• Unrated: $10
- Entry fees increase by $5 at the door for all sections
Prizes:
• Adult sections: A minimum of 60% of Premier and U1600 section entry fees will be returned as cash prizes to top performers in those sections.
• Scholastic and Unrated sections: Trophies and/or Medals will be awarded to top performers in scholastic and unrated sections.
Byes: One ½ point bye allowed. Must be requested prior to round 2 being paired and cannot be changed
Additional Information: (Please Read)
• Attendance will be limited to 60 total players so please register in advance to guarantee a spot.
• Scholastic section entrants must be in grades K - 12 and rated under 1300 USCF. Over 1300 rated students should register for one of the Adult sections. Students rated between 1100 and 1300 may choose either Scholastic or U1600.
• All players in the rated sections must have an active, paid USCF membership to play. You can obtain or renew USCF membership with tournament registration online or at the door or purchase directly from uschess.org. USCF membership rates are currently $20/year for youths under 19, $27/year for young adults 19-24, $45/year for adults, and $40/year for seniors over 65. Prices will increase in 2025.
• The current Month’s USCF Rating Supplement will be used for pairings and prizes in the rated sections. The highest of blitz, quick, or regular rating may be used for pairing and prizes at the tournament director's discretion.
• The Unrated section will follow USCF rules, but will not be submitted to the USCF nor require membership. It is intended for newer players who wish to get practice in a tournament setting without having to commit to USCF membership.
• These tie break systems will be used for scholastic and unrated prize determination if needed: Modified Median, Solkoff, Cumulative, Cumulative opponent's score
• Players in all sections are expected to bring their own regulation chess sets and clocks
• Notation is recommended, but is not required for quick rated USCF events
• Photos maybe be taken during the event and shared on the club's website and/or social media accounts
