The Carnival Quick Championship

The Four Horsemen of UNO, in collaboration with Downriver Chess Club of New Orleans, presents the Carnival Quick at UNO!

Tournament details: Six round, two-section (Open, U1400), swiss system, G/15;d5, USCF quick-rated tournament.

Prize fund: Prize fund is $500 b/50 with 50% guaranteed. $100 will be added to the prize fund for every ten entries above 40. Prize fund breakdown as follows:

1st in open, $300

1st in U1400, $200

Sections: Sections are open and U1400. Sections may be adjusted at TD discretion to better balance entrants.

Tiebreaks: Cash prizes to be split among all tied entrants.

Date: Saturday, January 13, registration 10:15AM-10:45AM, first round pairs for 11:00AM. The building will not be unlocked until 10:00AM. Please do not enter the building prior to then.

Round times: 11:00AM, 12:15PM, 1:15PM, [meal break], 3:20PM, 4:20PM, 5:20PM prizes at 6:20PM. Round times are tentative and subject to change.

Venue: The Gallery Lounge, on the second floor of the University Center at University of New Orleans, 2000 Lakeshore Drive.

Parking: Parking is permitted in the University Center lot of UNO.

Pairing: The TDs will assign you to your section. If you have a quick rating, that rating will be used. If you only have a regular or blitz rating, the highest rating will be used. If you are paired in a lower section but would like to play in the open, please indicate that upon registration. Unrated players may play in the open or U1400, however, they will not be prize eligible in the U1400.

Eligibility: $22 entry fee if purchased by 1/6/24. $25 if by 1/11/24. $30 at the door. Capacity limited to the first 120 players, pre-register to guarantee your slot. Bye policy: Two 0.5 point byes available upon request, must be made prior to pairing round four in non-emergency situations. Bye requests cannot be cancelled following the start of round four.
