Event Overview
The CalChess Team vs. Team offers fun and novel opportunities for schools and clubs to compete as a team of K-12 players.
This is NOT an individual tournament, this is a team tournament, so we encourage kids to team up and enter this tournament!
Worried about forming a team? Don't be! we'll help you and put you in a team with others who are also looking for team members.
We'll ensure everyone finds their place. Our goal is to make sure every participant has the opportunity to experience the fun of team competition.

- You must log in or sign up before you can register.
- Online registration closes at midnight on the day of tournament.
- Onsite registration is subject to availability (additional fee incurred).
- Late fees applied a day before tournament.
Schedule:
- First round starts at 9am
- Time control: G/25 d5
- Number of rounds: 5
- Side Event: Blitz
- 5:30pm to 7:17pm (rolling schedule)
- Time control: G/3 d2
Prizes:
- DGT North American clocks to top player on each "board".
- Personal trophies to all other players with a winning record.
- Medals for any player who doesn't get a trophy.
- DGT North American clocks to all players of the top team.
- Trophies to all players of all other teams with a winning record.
- Team trophies to top two overall team.
- Team trophies to top two school team.
- Team trophies to top two club team.
- Players may exchange clocks for trophies.
- Maximum one trophy per player.
- Maximum one trophy per team.
- Sizes of trophies will vary based on standings.
Sections:
- In every match, any 4 players in each team play another team's 4 players in their rating order. A team can have 4-6 players (including 0 to 2 reserves).
- The total team score determine the match result. (A team needs 2 points to draw and more than 2 points to win.)
- A team's rating is the average rating of its top 4 players' March 2024 Supplement rating (live rating on 2/22/24).
