Belmont Breakout Prison Chess Tournament

Free Entry, Free Catered Lunch!

Belmont Correctional has an active chess program and they’re ready to test their skills against the outside world in rated play!  All inmates are minimum security, non-violent offenders.  Outside players must bring photo id and be at least age 15; players age 15-17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Site: Belmont Correctional Institution, 68518 Bannock Uniontown Rd, St Clairsville OH  43950.  About 2 hours east of Columbus, 20 minutes west of Wheeling WV.

1 Open Section.  5 rounds G/30, d5.  Limit 30 outside players.  No byes.  Pairing system at TD’s discretion depending on number of entries and attempting to maximize inmates’ games vs rated opponents.  All games will be rated.  Sets and clocks provided.

Entry Fee: Free!  No prizes, free catered lunch and gift bag to all participants.

Schedule: Check in at main visitor’s center 8:30-9:30am, photo id required.  1st round 10:15am, then ASAP.  Finish by approximately 5pm.
