Event Overview

Belmont Correctional has an active chess program and they’re ready to test their skills against the outside world in rated play!  All inmates are minimum security, non-violent offenders.  Must bring photo id and be at least age 15; players age 15-17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  For more information on the difference this prison chess program is making, see https://ohchess.org/bishops-of-belmont.html.

1 Open Section.  5 rounds G/30, d5.  Limit 30 outside players.  No byes.  Pairing system at TD’s discretion depending on number of entries and attempting to maximize inmates’ games vs rated opponents.  Sets and clocks provided.

Entry Fee: Free!  No prizes, free catered lunch and gift bag to all participants.

Schedule: Check in at main visitor’s center 8:30-9:30am, photo id required.  1st round 10:15am, then ASAP.  Finish by approximately 5pm.
