  Join us for chess tournaments in our new home at 2000 Bearcat Way, Suite 104, Morrisville 27560, where we are hosting our September tournaments Friday-Sunday (plus a special Labor Day tournament)!

  • Players of all ages and experience levels are invited to attend.
  • Entry fee: $20 in advance, or $30 onsite.  Entry fees help to fund the 2023 Dragon Knight Chess ("DKC") Grand Prix.
  • Time controls: Saturday and Sunday afternoons (1pm): Time control for sections below 800: Game in 25 minutes; 5 second delay/move.  Time control for sections above 800; Game in 45 minutes; 5 second delay/move
  • Time control for Friday night (6pm) Quick:  Game in 15 minutes; 5 second delay/move
  • Cash prizes in the top rated section:
    • 1st: $40
    • 2nd: $27
    • 3rd: $13
  • New scholastic tournament players receive a 1 year USCF membership!
  • New players are welcome!

  Sections have 4 players each by rating (Quad Setup). Below the top rated section, 1st place wins a trophy, 2nd place wins a medal, and 3rd place wins a small scorebook.  (Alternative prizes are available.)  Also, all players who adequately record the moves in their tournament games get a keychain chess piece.

  Free Blitz Tournaments!

  Free blitz tournaments are scheduled immediately following the regular Saturday and Sunday afternoon tournaments. These are recommended for all adults ages 16 and up; and for players younger than 16 with ratings of at least 700.

  • Double Round Robin, or Swiss System if many entries
  • Time control is Game in 5 minutes; +2 second increment each move
  • Blitz tournament starts on Saturday and Sundays at 4:30pm (or immediately after players complete 1pm tournament)
  • Estimated end: 7pm
  • Free blitz!  No immediate cash prizes, but points count toward the 2023 Dragon Knight Chess Grand Prix!  
  • USCF rated - Adult players must have current USCF membership
