Compete for the honor of representing Northern California at the National Level! The Rockefeller Qualifier is a USCF-rated tournament designed for top scholastic players from Grades K-5. Earn the opportunity to represent CalChess at the 6th Annual John D. Rockefeller III National Tournament of Elementary School State Champions!

  • Rating: 1200+

  • Time Control: G/3 d2
  • Rounds: 8
  • Round Times: Sun, 6/15 - 6:30pm to 8:15pm (rolling schedule)

Awards:

• Rockefeller Qualifier:
  • Rockefeller Winner earns $500 to represent CalChess in the 6th Annual John D. Rockefeller III National Tournament of Elementary School State Champions.
  • The honor and the prize money will go to the next placeholder if the Rockefeller Winner cannot represent CalChess.
  • Top finisher(s) who do not represent CalChess earn $200.
• Open Blitz:
  • For every group of 6, the top overall player earns $60; the top player among the three lowest players earns $40.

Fees:

• Rockefeller Qualifier:
  • Qualifier = $123
  • Qualifier + Play-up = $152
    (Note: u1200 players can play-up if and only if their rating is at least 900+)
• Blitz: $33

Other requirements:

• USCF membership must be active.
• Players are in Grades K-5 in 2024-25.
• Players' rating is 1200+, or 900+ with play-up, based on June Supplement Rating.
