Event Overview

This is the start of a (hopefully) monthly Binghamton USCF rated chess tournament!

The tournament is open to all, including students, faculty, and town residents. Open to beginners and experienced players. Includes a scholastic section for kids with trophies!

First tournament September 7th.

Event Details

4 round Swiss, G/30;d5, Regular rated.

Rounds start 1pm and continue ASAP. Will run until 5:30 at the latest.

1/2 point byes available for round 1 or 4, please specify before the start of the tournament if needed.

Prize fund is 100$ based on 20 entrants. Prize scales with entries, with a minimum of $50 in prizes. Prize is given to top placing finisher(s) in each section.

The Scholastic-Novice section will be for players under 18 only, and will have trophies for all participants instead of a prize fund. Players under 18 and under a rating of 800 can choose to play in either the scholastic or Adult sections.

Adult sections are determined by rating, I expect there to be either 2 or 3, with an equal number of players in each.

Email is preferred for questions and registration, phone number is preferred if it is the day of or an emergency.

Please bring a clock if you have one, I will provide extras for those who need.

Registration

EF:20$, pay at door

Email or text tournament organizer to register, please include your full name and your USCF ID, if you have one. Even if it is expired!

If you don't have an ID, include a chess.com or lichess username and rating so I can put you in the right section. You will be required to buy a USCF membership to join the tournament.

Please include in the email if the player is playing in the scholastic section.

If you need a new USCF membership or to renew an old one, please arrive at 12:30 and I can do that for you. Anyone under 24 costs $25 a year. For older adults, a membership is $20 for a 2 month trial membership, $45 for a year. Seniors cost $40.

Registration is also taken the day of, arrive at 12:30 to do so. Online registration is heavily preferred.
