Event Overview
Arizona Scholastic Chess Festival is a One Day USCF rated Event for K-12 students on Saturday 3/29/2025. The event takes place at the Hotel Hilton Phoenix Chandler. 2929 W Frye Road. Chandler, AZ 85224. USCF membership is required. Free Lunch for those playing in both main events! $5 Off lunch if playing one tournament (booked with tournament registration). MORNING SCHOLASTIC CHAMPIONSHIP: 8:00 AM – 12:15 PM. Format: 4 Rounds Swiss Game in 25/5d.
Entry Fee: $60 ($75 with lunch included) by 3/24, $65 ($80 with lunch included) by 3/26, $70 ($85 with lunch included) by 3/28, $75 ($90 with lunch included) Same Day. Sections: K-1, K-3, K-6, and K-12. Prizes: Trophy for every Kindergarten! Big Trophy for top 5 in each section. Trophy for Best Under 1000 and Under 500 in each section. Trophy for Top 3 School Team.
AFTERNOON SCHOLASTIC SECTIONAL: 2:30 PM – 6:45 PM Format: 4 Rounds Swiss Game in 25/5d. Entry Fee: $60 ($75 with lunch included) by 3/24, $65 ($80 with lunch included) by 3/26, $70 ($85 with lunch included) by 3/28, $75 ($90 with lunch included) Same Day. Sections: Open (1400 and up), Under 1400, Under 1000, Under 500. Prizes: Trophy for every Kindergarten! Trophy for Top 3 in every section.
BUGHOUSE CHALLENGE: 1:15 PM – 2:15 PM. Format: 4 Rounds Swiss Game in 5/0. Entry Fee: $20.
Sections: Under 1000 and Over 1000. Prizes: Trophy for top 3 in each section.
BLITZ TOURNAMENT: 7:00 PM – 8:15 PM. Format: 6 Rounds Swiss Game in 3/2s inc. Entry Fee: $20. Sections: Under 1200 and Over 1200. Prizes: Trophy for Top 3 in each section.
Half point BYE available in ALL rounds (Max 2) for ALL events and must be requested before Round 2.
Refund Policy: $20 penalty if canceling by 3/28/2025 at noon. No refund after that.
FREE LECTURE BY NATIONAL MASTER JASON GARFIELD: 12:30 PM - 1:10 PM.
LUNCH: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. Please do not bring outside food to the event! Water is OK. A discounted lunch is available to the 1st 125 people for just $15 (at a cost to us of $20 plus tax) if booked with tournament registration. There is a convenience store with Starbucks Coffee and snacks there. Breakfast and Dinner is served at the Restaurant onsite. The Bar is open after 5pm that day. If you want to leave the site for lunch the Chandler Fashion Square Mall is only a 2-minute drive away.
