5th Stephen Sosnick Memorial Chess Festival
Rapid Chess, Sunday, April 12, 2026
- Time control: 15 minutes for each game plus 10 seconds added per move
- 8:30 am Check-in
- Seven Rounds from 9 am - 6 pm (see Schedule page)
- Lunch lecture by GM Joel Benjamin 12 pm - 1 pm
- 5:30 pm Awards Ceremony
- Five Sections: Master/Expert 2000+; 1500-1999; 1000-1499; U1000/Unrated; Elementary (Grades K-6 only) U800/Unrated.
- Entry Fee: Master/Expert - $40, 1500-1999 - $40, 1000-1499 - $40, U1000/Unrated - $20, Elementary (Grades K-6 only) U800/Unrated - $20 by April 4, 2026, $15 more afterward. May play up one section if rating within 200 points. GMs/IMs/WGMs/WIMs - Free
- Registration closes at 9 pm on April 11, 2026, no on-site registration.
- Rating: A player's official USCF Quick Rating will be used for pairing and prize purposes. Use USCF Regular Rating if no Quick Rating.
- Prizes for 1st to 5th place in every Section:
- Master/Expert 2000+ - 1st $500 / 2nd $300 / 3rd $200 / 4th $150 / 5th $100
- 1500-1999 Section - 1st $300 / 2nd $175 / 3rd $125 / 4th $100 / 5th $75
- 1000-1499 Section - 1st $175 / 2nd $125 / 3rd $100 / 4th $75 / 5th $60
- Under 1000/Unrated Section - Trophies to 1st - 5th
- Elementary (Grades K-6 only) U800/Unrated - Trophies to 1st - 5th
- One half-point bye may be requested before the first round.
- Please bring a chess tournament clock if you have one.
- US Chess Membership required for tournament play. Become a USCF member here.
