MARCH 13-14: New York State Scholastic Championships (out of state welcome)
6SS, G/60+10, at Internet Chess Club. Open to students in schools in the US or Canada. Must be on Zoom using real name to be eligible for prizes (see ccazoom.com for Zoom setup). Championship players with wrong Zoom camera angle, if not corrected after notice, are ineligible for prizes. Team prizes based on top 4 scores from same school.  In 10 sections: High School Championship, open to all K-12 born after 9/1/01. Top NYS grade 9-12 qualifies for Denker tournament of HS Champions. High School Reserve, Open to K-12 under 1500 or unrated. Junior High School Championship, open to all K-9 born after 9/1/05. Top NYS grade 6-8 qualifies for Barber tournament of Grade 6-8 Champions. Middle School Reserve, open to K-8 under 1200 or unrated.  Elementary Championship, open to all K-6 born after 9/1/08. Top NYS K-5 qualifies for Rockefeller tournament of Grade K-5 Champions. Elementary Reserve, open to K-6 under 1000 or unrated. Elementary Novice, open to K-6 under 600 or unrated.  Primary Championship, open to all K-3 born after 9/1/11. Primary Reserve, open to K-3 under 800 or unrated.  K-1 Championship, open to K-1 born after 9/1/13.  Championship Prizes: Plaque to top 10 players and top 5 teams each section; free entry to all CCA tournaments (limited to players in NY or adjacent states/provinces) 4/10/21-8/10/21 to 1st, 4/10/21-6/10/21 2nd, 4/10/21-5/20/21 to 3rd. Plaque to top U1800, U1600, U1400 in HS; U1600, U1400, U1200 in JHS; U1400, U1200, U1000 in Elem, U1200, U1000, U800 in Primary, U700, U500, U300 in K-1. Reserve & Novice Prizes: Plaque to top 10 players and top 7 teams each section and top U1200, U1000, U800, Unr in HS Reserve, top U1000, U800, U600, Unr in Middle School Reserve, top U800, U600, Unr in Elementary Reserve, U600, U400, U300, Unr in Primary Reserve, U400, U300, U200, Unr in Elementary Novice.  Entry fee at chessaction.com: $58 by 2/28, $68 by 3/5, $78 by 3/9, $90 after 3/9, entry after 2 pm EDT 3/12 may have required half point bye in round 1. New players (first CCA event on ICC), enter by 3/11 or risk not being paired for round 1. Log in to playcca.com 30 minutes before play begins; rounds begin each day at: EDT 10 am, 1:15 pm & 4:30 pm. Half point byes available all rounds, limit 2 byes, must be claimed with registration & cannot be changed.  Online Regular rated (will not affect OTB ratings); Online Regular ratings used for pairings & prizes. OTB regular rating used if no online regular. USCF membership required; may join with entry (special rates at chessaction.com). $15 service charge for refunds. $20 fee for switching sections 3/9-12; no switching after 3/12. Substitutions from advance player list pay $90. WARNING: YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN WHEN PAIRINGS ARE ISSUED, OR YOU MAY NOT BE PAIRED.
