Event Overview

EVENT & SCHEDULE: Three sections: Master/Expert (above 1999, FIDE rated) , Reserve (U2000), Senior (age 50+ as of 7/1/2023) in a 2 or 3-day schedule.  USCF rated six-round swiss.  July 2022 rating supplement or CCA minimums.  Registration:  7/1 – 8:30-9:45 am.  7/2 – 8:00 - 8:45 am.  Rounds: 3-day: 7/1 – 10 & 3, 7/2 – 10:30 & 4, 7/3 – 10 & 3.  2-day: 7/2 – 9, 11:15, 1:30, & 4, 7/3 – 10 & 3.  (2- and 3-day events merge in round 4).  Time Controls: 3-day: G/90 +30 inc, 2-day: Rounds 1-3, G/61,d5; Rounds 4-6, G/90 +30 inc.

PRIZE FUND (TOP SECTION):

Master/Expert: 1st - $1,000 & trophy, 2nd - $700, 3rd - $500;   *U2200:  1st - $400, 2nd - $300, 3rd - $200

The prize fund is guaranteed.

EF:  $99 by 6/24/2023, $119 after 6/24/2023 and on-site.  GMs/IMs free.  CalChess members receive a $5 discount on their entry fee (excluding reentries).  Entrants may play up one section (max 200 points) for $20.  Reentry after round 2 of the 3-day schedule, $50.  Byes: ½ point byes available in any round and must be requested before completion of the previous round.   ½ point byes for rounds 5 and 6 must be requested prior to the start of round 1 and may not be changed.  Maximum two ½ point byes.  July 2023 rating supplement only.
