NOTES:

  1. SCCF Membership is mandatory for all SoCal Residents playing in Championship sections! Register/Renew SCCF Membership here. (If you're unsure whether your SCCF membership will expire or needs renewal before SuperStates begins, please check here.)
  2. Each Championship section has a minimum rating requirement. If you are a beginner or do not yet have a rating, we recommend registering for the Junior Varsity sections here instead.
  3. The tournament is USCF-rated, but not FIDE-rated.
  4. The March 2026 Supplement Rating will be used for pairing.
  5. Chess sets will be provided. Please bring your chess clock.

  • Champ K-12 (Minimum rating of 1000)
  • Champ Girls (Minimum rating of 800)
  • Champ K-8 (Minimum rating of 800)
  • Champ K-5 (Minimum rating of 600)
  • Champ K-3 (Minimum rating of 400)

NOTE:

  • Please be aware of the minimum rating requirements for each Championship section. Section eligibility will be determined based on a player’s peak rating (including provisioning rating) between November 1 and March 15.
    • The only exception is when a team must include a player below the minimum rating to complete a 4-player team.
    • In such cases, please email [email protected] to request an exception.
  • Girls may participate in any section for which they meet the rating requirements.
    • Only girls may participate in the Championship Girls Section.
  • Please review the information below regarding eligibility for SoCal Representatives for the corresponding National Invitationals.

State Qualifier Eligibility

To be eligible to qualify as a Southern California State Representative from a Championship section, players must meet all of the following requirements:

  • SoCal residency (billing address or supporting documentation may be requested for verification).
  • Valid SCCF membership at the time of the tournament.
  • Enrolled in a U.S. school, including public, private, or state-approved homeschooling programs (the curriculum must be approved by the state).
  • Cannot represent another state for National Invitational competitions in the same year.

Note: Players who do not meet all eligibility requirements may still compete in Championship sections but will not be eligible for State titles or National Invitational qualification.

Day 1 – SaturdayDay 2 – Sunday

2 half-point byes are allowed, but not in final round. Half-point byes need to be submitted before March 21st, 2026

 

Entry Fee:

  • Early Bird: $110 (by Jan. 31st)
  • Regular: $130 (by Feb. 28th)
  • Late Entry: $160 (by March 13th)
  • Free Entry for IMs/GMs (by Feb. 28th) 

 

Event Cancellation Policy

  • $10 Cancellation Fee until Jan. 31st. Then, until 3/15, $20. No refunds at all if you cancel after March 15th. Submit a Change Request here (change.SuperStates.org) for a withdrawal.

👥 Team Awards

Championship Team Awards are determined based on the total score of each team’s top four players in each section, except for the Champion Girls Section. The scores earned by girl players in the Champion Girls Section will be counted toward their respective grade-based championship sections. To be eligible, new teams that were not in SuperStates 2025 verified team must register and be verified using this form.
