Event Overview
- WHEN: OCTOBER 11th, 2026 (SUNDAY) 12 pm - 3:30 pm
- CANCELLATIONS: If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible by submitting a "CANCELLATION REQUEST" via our Google Form. This helps us manage the pairings and allows players on the waitlist to participate.
- RUNNING LATE? Email Click here to show mail address. We'll check emails regularly before noon.
- ARRIVAL TIME: Doors open at 11 AM, and the first round starts at 12 PM sharp. Please, arrive by 11:45.
- FIRST-TIME PLAYERS: Arrive by 11:25 AM for a brief tournament orientation.
- PAIRINGS/STANDINGS: We recommend following the CaissaLive Tournament Site for pairings and standings (text/email alerts available).
- FORMAT: G30d5 games, 3 rounds
- SECTIONS: OPEN (for advanced players, max 1399 USCF), U700, U400 (beginners)
- ENTRY FEE: Regular $30 (until October 2nd), Late $40 (from October 3rd)
- PAYMENT METHODS: Credit Card/Venmo/Zelle
- REFUNDS: Full refunds available if requested before 9:00 am the day of the event.
- FINISH TIME: The tournament is expected to last a maximum of 3.5 hours, ending by 3:30 PM. However, players in the lower sections are often done much earlier, typically by 2 - 2:30 PM.
- RATINGS: This event is USCF-rated as quick and regular (double rated)
- GAME NOTATION: is not mandatory
- MAX PARTICIPANTS: 86
- EQUIPMENT: Chess sets and clocks will be provided for all players.
- SEATING: Some seating is available outside and in the club's skittles room during breaks. Families are welcome to bring foldable chairs as well.
- SPECTATORS: Spectators are welcome to observe the tournament through the large glass windows.
- REFRESHMENTS: If you bring a water bottle, please label it with your player’s name. They easily go missing at the club.
- FOOD POLICY: You can bring snacks/water but no food is permitted inside the tournament hall.
- PARKING: There is no dedicated club parking. Balboa Park now requires paid street parking near our location. Please plan ahead and ensure you have enough time to park and walk before the tournament begins.
- AWARD CEREMONY: Each section will be awarded separately right after all last round games are done.
- TROPHIES: Top 5 performers of each section will receive a trophy.
