TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Format: Swiss System
Total Rounds: 4
Time Control: G/30;d5 (30 minutes with 5-second delay)
Sections: Under 600, 600+ (sections may be adjusted based on signups)

Round Schedule (December 12):
Round 1: 10:00 am — remaining rounds on a rolling schedule

Play-up rule: Play-ups allowed free of charge for scholastic players within 200 rating points of the next section.
Pairings are based on the December 2026 regular supplemental US Chess rating.

PRIZE FUND
Trophies to Top 5 in each section. Medals to all others.

BYES
A maximum of two half-point byes can be requested in this tournament.
Round 1 bye requests must be submitted by 9:45 am. Rounds 2–4 bye requests must be made 10–15 minutes before the next round.
Late registrations will receive a half-point bye for any missed round, up to two rounds.

ELIGIBILITY
Players must have a current US Chess Federation membership valid through the last day of the tournament.
Players must have a USCF rating of 1400 or below.

Forfeit time: 30 minutes.
Clocks provided and set up by the club.
Games are US Chess regular and quick rated (dual-rated).

SICK POLICY
The Mechanics' Institute Chess Club asks that any player who is feeling unwell withdraw from the tournament to help protect the health of others. Players who withdraw due to illness before the start will receive a full refund as a credit to their Jumbula account.
