Event Overview
ICEA Chess @ Irvine hosts a monthly USCF-rated scholastic chess tournament in Irvine. Each event typically features **three USCF-rated sections—Open, U800, and U400—**along with a non-rated Rising Stars section, designed to accommodate players of different skill levels and grade groups.
This one-day tournament runs from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and uses a G/25 +5 time control (25 minutes per player with a 5-second increment per move).

USCF-rated (USChess membership is required)

NOT Rated (USChess membership is NOT required)

(If a section has fewer than 6 players, it will be combined with the closest appropriate section.)
Format:
4SS, G/25;+5.
(4 total games - Clocks at 25 minutes plus 5 seconds for each move).
Estimated Round Times:
(NOTE: One 1/2 point bye is allowed. The Awards Ceremony will be right after all games finished)
- Round 1: 9 am
- Round 2: 10:15am
- Round 3: 11:30am
- Round 4: 12:45pm
(Note: Rounds 2–4 may start earlier if the previous round finishes ahead of schedule. Please check the on-site postings for any changes.)
Entry Fee:
- $20
Event Cancellation Policy
- $5 Cancellation Fee.
Awards
- Trophies for the Top 3 players in each section.
- Medals for all raising stars & unrated players who didn't receive a trophy.
