Prizes: Team and Individual Trophies:
First place individual wins themself a free entry to 2027 North Carolina K-12 Championship (March 5-7, 2027)
Top 10 individuals: Trophies
Top 3 school teams: Plaques. All players on top 3 teams win trophies as team-mates.
Teams: Minimum of 2 players to make a team; only players from the same school qualify as a team. “Bring as many players as you want for your team.” The top 4 point-scores of individual players contribute to team scores, but all team players (no matter how many) win team-mate trophies. Teams with fewer than 4 players score no points for the 4th (and possibly 3rd) player. Home School Teams can be made up of players in the same home zip code.
Teammate pairings are avoided but are possible.
Accelerated pairings may be used at TD’s discretion.
Registration and Entry Fee:
$29 Online by November 6 (6pm), or
$39 Onsite registration 9:00-9:30 morning of tournament; mandatory 1st round half point bye likely
USCF membership required; Dragon Knight Chess will use vouchers to create new scholastic memberships.
Time Control: G/24; delay 5 (quick rated only). Each player receives 24 minutes plus a 5 second delay to complete each game.
Onsite registration 9:00-9:30 morning of tournament; mandatory 1st round half point bye likely.
4 round Swiss System; Round Schedule:
1st Round 10am;
2nd Round Noon;
3rd Round 2pm;
4th Round 4pm;
Maximum 2 optional half point byes allowed for any round declared before Round 2.
