Event Overview
OVERVIEW
The Walter Muir Memorial is a 6-round, two-section tournament hosted by the Roanoke Valley Chess Club. There is a registration cap of 60 players. There is an additional educational "Beginner" unrated, single-day section (not included in player cap) for those who are not registered with US Chess, but would still like to play and/or learn more about tournament chess.

Open Section:
G/45; increment 10
45 minutes per player with 10 second increment
U1400 Section:

Beginner Section:
G/20; increment 10
20 minutes per player with 10 second increment
PRIZE fund: $1025 - Based on 40 entries
Open Section - $650 in prizes
1st place: $300
2nd place: $200
3rd place: $100
Top U1800: $50

Online Registration only. No on-site registration. Registration ends October 18th at 9:00AM EST.

OTHER
Byes/Withdrawals: All schedule changes such as Byes or Withdrawals must be submitted at least 1 hour before the relevant round starts.
Spectators: Parents/Spectators are not allowed in the playing hall or to hover around the doorway once rounds have started.
Trophy/Plaques: Trophies or plaques are awarded to first place in each section based on US Chess tiebreaks.
Equipment: All equipment will be provided (boards, pieces, clocks, notation sheets, pens).
Media Consent: By registering or attending our event, you agree to have photos taken by RVCC & used for editorial/marketing purposes.
Refund Policy: No refunds upon registration.
Unrated Players: Unrated players are not eligible for class prizes (i.e., Top U1800, Top U1000, etc.), but are eligible for place prizes in their section (i.e., 1st place, 2nd place)
